My New Hammerhead CCR! Updated Pics

Today I visited Juergensen Marine via the Polk Hill International Airport and picked up my new Hammerhead CCR.

The entire kit is delivered with Wings, Bottles, Backplate/Harness in a sturdy Storm Case.

Kevin mentioned that if you visit the corporate headquarters of Juergensen Marine in person to pick up your HammerHead CCR, you may get a pretty cool shirt too! (While supplies last)

Here are a couple extra pictures of things that I really like about the rig..

There is an O2 and Dil manifold that allow you to configure the rig as you like. This will give me an easy location to add a hose with a swagelok fitting for off board Dil.

ManifoldV1.jpg

Note that you can easily remove the first stage regulators from the manifold.

The T-Pieces are very well constructed and easily disassemble for cleaning!

Overtime I will continue to add additional pictures and feedback on the kit..

Thanks to Kevin and Jakub for putting together such a great package!

Is mentioned, I took my new toy for a swim yesterday. Special thanks to Frankie P for being my dive buddy to make sure that did not drown as many of you know, Frankie dives a Boris. Here are a couple pics of the two units side by side...

Here are some additional pictures of the unit as I was setting it up.

The top of the Sorb Keg makes a great cover for the center of the scrubber when it comes time to fill it up!

Let's go diving!!! BTW.. Yes I can reach my 02 guage...

I spent about an hour swimming about and here is some initial feedback:
  • The unit weighs a lot less than my modified YBOD.
  • The trim was excellent
  • WOB was good. Note that this was the first time in several years that I have used sorb over EAC cartridges so I am used to very good WOB.
  • The CL's were a little large for my liking. I have been told that they will be made a little smaller.
  • The ADV activated a little to quickly for me. Note that I have been using an Inspiration ADV that is very stiff. So much so that I never turn it off during a dive.
  • I need to spend a couple hours this week adjusting hose locations, routing the DIVA wire etc...
With my modified YBOD, it typically would take me about 30 minutes or so to break it down etc... With the new rig I was done in about 15 minutes. I attribute this to how easily the loop and CLs come apart to clean.

Dive Safe...

Mark

Re: My New Hammerhead CCR!

Congrats, Mark, and thanks for the pics. Love that airport sign.
Am looking forward to the feedback, the first pics from DEMA made
that unit look quite impressive.

Re: My New Hammerhead CCR!

Don't forget that it has a spot for a fourth cell in the head, to hook up a VR3 or Shearwater (ala prior HH practise with Insp head...)

One of my favorite features...

Re: My New Hammerhead CCR!

Looks interesting!

How about some more pics on the head (inside), and a description of similarities/differences compared to the Meg head?

Is it available for sale to the general public, or was your unit some kind of pre-production unit?

Regards,
Henrik

Re: My New Hammerhead CCR!

Great Pic's Mark, It sure is a nice looking rig. I'll be watching you and others to see how well it performs over the next few months. I could be in the market for a nice new rig next year

Re: My New Hammerhead CCR!

To answers a couple questions....
  • I will take some more pictures tomorrow and post them at the top of the thread.
  • This is not a "pre-production" unit, but is one of the first batch of units. In speaking with Kevin J, (heyydude) I know that he is planning a couple tweaks here and there. I will leave it to him to share these as he decides on them.
  • The latest issue of ADM that was handed out at DEMA and is in the mail now, has an article on the rig.
  • Look for an update on the Jurgensen Marine website with more details on the unit shortly as well as purchase/training information.
  • The 4th cell capability of the HammerHead Inspiration head is one of the many reasons that origionally convered my Classic several years ago. It's an obvious advantage of the HammerHead CCR since it's in the same gas path as the other 3 cells. (I will post a picture of this tomorrow). With that remember that the latest version of the HammerHead electronics has GF Decompression capability in both the primary and secondary.
More details & pictures to come tomorrow...

Dive Safe....

It would look more like it if Apecs 3 were out. However, just because planes and birds both have wings doesn't mean they are duplicate designs.
