![]() | Re: Stuck solenoid in open position during dive? Now i am thinking out loud but does a boris not have this type of problem (guess what i am buying) am still confused but its that time of night sorry all ! Peter I may be wrong Peter but i assume the master hand set stopped/froze/hung showing 1.3 and in the middle of firing the solenoid. So the hand sets don't register the problem as they are stuck on 1.3 and the solenoid fires in 02 continuously. I also assume that with the master frozen on 1.3 no audible alarms will sound. Only the slave will be showing max pp02 but if it doesn't independently control the warning buzzers then its useless unless you happen to look at it. Which of course, you should do every min or so. Other units have better design like the Hammer Head where the warning s on the HUD and DIVA are controlled by an independently powered and calibrated secondary hand set and the master just controls the deco and the solenoid. This sort of hanging problem is why i don't like the single hand set on the Vision. ATB Mark Chase |

![]() | Re: Stuck solenoid in open position during dive? In real life (and not on the internet), how common is it that a solenoid gets stuck in the open position during a dive? None for me, not stuck open or closed in little over five years /360 Hours with the Inspo.// Blomman

Now i am thinking out loud but does a boris not have this type of problem (guess what i am buying) am still confused but its that time of night sorry all ! Very improbable on a Boris, at least as far as electronics is concerned.Peter All rebreathers that use solenoids are liable to have them stick on. Sticking off is much more common (they are off, much more than on). Alex Last edited by AD_ward9 : 9th October 2007 at 17:00. |

I have to say its much easier running minimum loop with an ADV.Without an ADV, people do not optimise their loop so well in terms of volume. Alex ATB Mark

I had my solenoid stick open last year (classic inspo back lite hand sets) just reached depth and every thing was fine, then a minute later it all when pear shaped i can only guess at what my po2 was as the hand sets give out at 2.55 but my po2 would have been more at 3.5 the unit had 12 dives on it since the last service so was sent back for investigation(no problems found!!!!) but the filter screen was missing when unit returned. kind regards john routley

Scared the crap out of me, but I dealt with it, and feathered my valve at depth, until it got unstuck. I was making a terrible scraping noise, so I am assuming that it got some gunk stuck in it, that eventually broke loose. This was 2 years ago, and have not had a problem since. Just keep you eye on your PO2 and it shouldn't be the end of the world!

PpO2 will spike hard and fast if you are deep and you don´t want to breathe it... Mixaddict, how high did the ppO2 jump and how fast? For the record my solenoids have always worked just fine. JH |
