When he took them out they seemed tight into the recess but, in my recollection, they didn't seem to be sealed at the show. I didn't get a close up look of how the plates fit into the recess though. I was told they were going to be potted

It's all just a market of assembled commercial commodities. How many companies make BC bladders in the world. Three? Nah it is more than that.... I know of 4 sets of people / companies who have RF fancy plastic welding machines and do it for a start and that does not include anyone in china and the fact I don't to know everyone.

Numbers were not meant to be accurate, just relative: I've never been on the floor of any dive equipment manufacturer and found in-house BC manufacture. I *have* actually been at one that does in-house high pressure cylinder manufacture though.... Spare Air, strangely enough. Can I say that "much" (and likely "most") of the diving equipment that is sold is simply privately labelled equipment that is made by outside suppliers, sometimes to particular spec, and other times simply as labeled generic product? He might have been being "propriatary" and was not giving you the full skinny. It looked like there were 2 seperate "chambers" when I looked into it I just saw wires, and the guy said that area would be potted.. I didn't pop off the other cap..Dave

Yes, I asked this specifically and the plates will be O-Ring sealed. Dave |

When I asked him, he looked around, said that he would prefer not to say the "material" because there were too many ears listening, and then told me the specific gravity of the stuff.... which I recognized immediately. I'll defer to his expressed wishes and not say more. Dave |

I like the look of the material, my only possible concern is that it has a rough surface and MIGHT be a hospitable place for bacteria.. but thats something that will be seen in the future..Dave

Think we've diverged the discussion, I was speaking to the "potting material" for the innards of the electronics. The stuff the can is made of is neat, surface finish was, as you say, "Cat's Tounge" but it'll be easy to wrestle with wet hands. Thought the inside surface finish was fine. Dave |
