Re: Megalodon v Ouroboros Article.

Dave,

Thanks for sharing the information on the article, especially new information about the new Boris base for larger tanks.

You mentioned the Boris swims like a dream, have you dived it in strong current yet ? If so, how do you feel about its larger cross-sectional area affected by the current ?

I very much like the Boris, except for its size. It just reminded me of the PVR-BASC and BMR-500 units which were PITA to use in current environment.

And looking at the second picture in your article, I see that its thickness looks about 1-1/2 to 2 times the thickness of the Meg. Minus the CL of course, which isn't a problem since I would simply use BMCL with any unit sold with OTS-CL.

I wish there is a mini-Boris around similar to Evolution/Inspiration and Sport-KISS/Classic-KISS concept.

Yes I have dived her in a current and trimmed horizontal she dives fine, come out of the horizontal and she can be interesting.......

Next year should see the Boris sidemount appear sized similar to a 15 litre, you could probably backmount that or just sidemount two....

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Thanks

Re: Megalodon v Ouroboros Article.

Thanks You Dave,

I am a big fan of the Meg. and the Boris, but have never even seen a boris in person. If you had to pick just ONE unit what would it be and why (for someone who has a fair amount of CCR experience)?

I am leaning toward a Mark 15.5 (if I can find one) or a Boris (I have yet to make a final decision)

Thanks in advance for your insight and opinion.

Hi Jon,

I would choose the Boris at the moment, because of it's multiple redundancy systems alone, it is ahead of the pack.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

> 300h on 15.5
and
> 150h on Boris

=> go for a Boris no doubt (anymore)

*split counterlung (if flooded => recoverable # 15.5)
*decompression calculated Live (voting logic) # fix sp VR3 on 15.5
*4 ways to know your ppO2 (Iry, IIry, HUD, Vib) # 2 on 15.5
*variable sp # fixed before the dive on 15.5
*on worst case or if heavy task load => fly on HUD (deco, ascent, solenoid, ppo2)
* 2,7kg special radial = same time +/- = 4,5kg axial 15.5
* protected solenoid # exposed in water on 15.5 (ok coated but ask the navy about it ...)
* IIry Boris give you ppo2 AND mv of the 3 cells # have to remove them on 15.5 to read mv
* off board connectors for O2 and dil # just for dil on 15.5
* interactions from the computer for decisions on Alarms # you're on your own on a 15.5
* spare parts available # failed on a back of an army 15.5/16 truck

plus a few others, but got to go back to work

later

Re: Megalodon v Ouroboros Article.

last but not least:

mecanical shut-off:
ADV
and
solenoid

so manual add O2 and Dil still available

#

15.5 where you gona have to open and close the spheres

by the way if you don't have your own booster and compressor you gona have fun looking at the face of the local dive shop filling stations guy

15.5 superb unit at his time but we need to move on

Rgds
