![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Dunking your O2 cells... Dropped a couple of cells into a counterlung full of seawater for about ten seconds. (Butterfingers! )Rinsed them straight away in fresh water. Dried them out a bit. Put them on a meter - they seem OK. So, how wary should I be of these cells?

More seriously - I saw Iani's Boris cells get totally flooded with causticy water in Scapa - they're slightly different cells (R17s I think) with the screw-on jack plug connector. They were dried out, plugged back in, and worked perfectly - unfortunately for Ian, the rest of the electronics got f*cked up in the process, but that's a different story! I'd still be wary of them, and bear in mind that you may get delayed corrosion appearing on the circuitry which could have an adverse effect. |

Will do some shallow stuff before doing anything too daft. Considering that they are probably about 3 years old - I'd be wary of them! I know a set of cells will hurt the wallet, but it's got to be worth it for the peice of mind. I think it's Bruce that told me 'it's not the electrics that are trying to kill you, it's the cells' or words to that effect. Get rid of them mate, it's just not worth it. Cheers

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Dunking your O2 cells... When I flooded my homebuild completely, the cells seemed OK. After a while though they went mental, luckily I caught them at calibration rather than having them going postal while I was underwater. I'd maybe take a chance of one flooded cell out of an array of 3 but I wouldn't take the chance of diving with all my cells having been flooded. On the other hand, a quick dunk maybe different from a longer immersion as in a flood. The R17D is exactly the same as the R22D except it has a jack socket rather than a molex.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Maybe this is a good opportunity to upgrade to coax cells. Never bought new cells before. Does it hurt when you hand over the cash?
