| DE/MD/NJ Wreck Diver ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Up to 25% off of rebreather sensors at CCRsense.com! Some people like Harley Davidson motorcycles. Others prefer Yamaha. Very few will disagree (especially those who have owned both) that Harley's are less reliable than Yamaha motorcycles. Yet a huge following of Harley Davidson owners will continue to pay a significant premium for them in spite of their notorious--albeit less in recent years--unreliability. While I agree with the above, I gotta tell you your living in the past as far as Harley's are concerned.... The older models sure had their issues, but the newer models are a world a part from the older ones as far as maintenance issues are concerned. Just goes to show you how perception, rather than reality can effect a business and why the need for accurate data driven studies are important as far as product decision making is concerned.I do not think that Harley would be in existence if they made oxygen sensors. Point being is that if you--by some genuine criteria--feel that a certain company makes the most reliable sensors, by all means buy them! Richie |

Won't argue with you there. My boat is powered by Yamaha and my bike is a Honda knock-off made in China. When I am at the 7-11 it's not too life risky if my motorcycle does not start. If I am fifty miles offshore and coming up from a solo dive and my boat does not start, it is an entirely different matter.Richie I am not a sponsor any more and can't make any commercial statements, so this post is the result ![]()

I'm not a fan of putting my eggs all in one basket if you know what I mean. Yes, it would be good if there were more than one source, but that is the nature of having proprietrary sensors which are manufactured by AI to SMI's specs specifically for diving. I'd guess that if there was enough of a demand for them, SMI would be OK with another company stocking them to sell. The issue is probably more one of putting in a big enough order and another company having the money to put up. And since there aren't as many Prism divers as other kinds, not enough of a demand and hence no other distributor who's willing to stock such an expensive, perishable product... |
