3 years is what the company recommends.

Re: How long do Cells last in an unopened packet.....

Hi

There is no exact rule on this. The only way to figure it out is - open the packet and look for the MV output. The manufacturer (E.g. Teledyne) claims a shelf live for around 2 years for the R22D.

I had some O2 cells in an unopened packet completely dead 7 months after the production date. I also had a cell working fine after 12 months.

I change all cells together on a regular basis. This is at the end cheaper than buying a lot of spare cells which you can't use anymore.

Kind regards

Changing all cells together for too risky an undertaking for me IMHO......

I swap em when they die but check they hit 1.5+ on every dive....

Well I shall try em as I need to change 1 out which has died over last cpl of months of none use during periods of decorating!

The advise from AP is don'r use cells more than 12 - 18 months old, even if there still in the seal packaging. Personally, I'd chuck them.

Maybe not what you want to hear, but . . .

When I made the change over to CCR, I promised myself that I would not die from stupid things like pushing scubber or sensors. So, I swap out my sensors every year even if getting full expected millivolts and able to flush up to 1.5+ at 20 feet. When it's time, it's time.

I change one in month 10, one in month 11, and one in month 12 for the first year. Then, I change on the anniversary of the swap annually thereafter. I write the dates on each cell in permanent ink marker.

If in doubt, chuck em out! Not even worth the energy opening the packet

Re: How long do Cells last in an unopened packet.....

Still a dilemma :-)

Teledyne Analytical Instruments | Applications Tells us they are good for 36 months.....

Now if the manufacturer reckons they are good for 36 months and have been unopened ... what should I be wary of?

Actually I clicked on through and they say the shelf life is 24 months......

Re: How long do Cells last in an unopened packet.....

No dilemma Stuart. You're loaded! Buy some new ones when you need them.

In the mean time, pop them in the post to me and I promise to treasure them...

In all seriousness, if you do linearity checks without fail, and have another method of measuring PO2, then I don't see the problem. Swap them out when you're ready to buy some new ones.

You still have my address, btw?
