| Classic Kiss Explorer vs rEvo III Hi, i am searching for the right mCCR unit. I thought this would be the CK, but with the rEvo getting CE this would be another possibillity. I know the 2 large threads about Kiss vs rEvo, but the latest post in both is over a year old. and especially with the kiss explorer there are many new features (dil gas add, new bov etc) so right now, which unit would you recommend? regards DeepB |

| Re: Classic Kiss Explorer vs rEvo III Depends what you are looking for and type of diving. I looked at both and went with a Kiss. For me these are of the few pros the Kiss had over the rEvo. 1) Cheaper Price 2) BOV (must for me) 3) Ease of access to O2 addition, because the rEvo is on the bottom and could be a pain to get to with multiple bottles and gloves 4) Could be mounted to my nomad or any other BC system vs. using the one that comes with the unit. I also did not like how the rEvo displays are attached to the SPG because I do not feel you dont need anything more then button SPGs. I think both are great units but this is why I went with one over the other. Also the same options of the Explorer can be done with the rEvo I am sure with a omniswivel catalog and a little time to think it over. Last edited by atedeschi : 31st December 2009 at 18:36. |

| Re: Classic Kiss Explorer vs rEvo III You'll find different opinions, none right or wrong...comes down to your personal preferences, and the best thing you can do is take a first hand look at both units. For what it's worth, I dive a rEvo, and can clarify the previous post in that: 1) Cheaper Price depends on what options you go for 2) BOV (must for me) I have a BOV on my rEvo - just about all of the aftermarket ones will fit the rig (Golem, Tecme, JJ, etc) 3) Ease of access to O2 addition, because the rEvo is on the bottom and could be a pain to get to with multiple bottles and gloves I have no problem accessing the O2 or dil - with gloves, multiple bottles, etc an offboard O2 button, or chest area onboard O2 button is a very simply add-on, without changing the basic unit gas distribution 4) Could be mounted to my nomad or any other BC system vs. using the one that comes with the unit. any harness can be used on the rEvo. It has studs on the back of the unit that can be spaced to fit just about anything. Like all Rebreather's, the closer you position to the back the better. The stock harness does a great job, but other things work well. 5) I also did not like how the rEvo displays are attached to the SPG because I do not feel you dont need anything more then button SPGs. SPGs are removeable...just simply remove a small bracket from the display. I'm not one to say the rEvo is better than the Explorer or vice versa, but only time with both units will let you make the best informed decision

| ANDI I.T. | Re: Classic Kiss Explorer vs rEvo III I have owned a kiss in the past but never a rEvo. I did not like the kiss since I had to many problems with the Po2 meters. I have a Pelagian Rebreather which I like better then any Rebreather I have owned. Might check it out. Small, light, compact, good trim. Can not say enough good things about it. I have owned mine for about 6 months now and have not one problem with it. andibk |

Both of them with shearwater full trimix and with the rEvo a BOV (in the end they cost more or less the same).I am planning to do Trimix dives in 10-20°C water at depth up to 100m, but (at least in the beginning, never know where the road takes me) no cave etc. regards DeepB |

| Re: Classic Kiss Explorer vs rEvo III Both of them with shearwater full trimix and with the rEvo a BOV (in the end they cost more or less the same). given that you will dive in cold water, you might take a closer look at the revo if you dive a drysuit. the stainless version is heavy enough to offset the suit. My choise with the rEvo is that it is built TOUGH. great for wrecks, and getting beat around while travelling.I am planning to do Trimix dives in 10-20°C water at depth up to 100m, but (at least in the beginning, never know where the road takes me) no cave etc. regards DeepB

| RBW Key Holder ![]() ![]() | Re: Classic Kiss Explorer vs rEvo III The KISS Explorer is designed for remote world exploration where getting equipment to the dive site is difficult. ie remote caves, cave sumps, high mountain lakes, deep pits etc.... For standard diving conditions where access is somewhat easy and no airline transportation is required, the standard KISS classic would be better.
