| Mod 2 Normoxic training Hi guys help needed if possible. I am thinking of doing my MOD 2 training on my vision inspiration. For various reasons I am nervous of attending a course one being I have no trimix experience at all. Can anybody give me a heads up on what to expect on the course, what skills are tested? What equipment is required over and above normal rebreather equipment? I’m thinking things like stage cylinders! Many Thanks in advance Mark |

They list what skills you're expected to be able to perform. The standards are usually available on the agency's website - try google if not. Good luck ![]() David |

| Re: Mod 2 Normoxic training I would suggest working to find an appropreate instructor that has gotten good feedback from your peers and then speak with them about "expectations". While I am not happy to say this, the reality of what you will get out of a course may vary a little to widely based on the instructor. Personally I would highly recommend Martin Robson at EAU2 Technical Diver Training Home Page. Good Luck! Mark |

| PROTEC MEXICO ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Mod 2 Normoxic training yo There is not to much new equipment but one extra stage with your deco mix. Your bottom mix should have a long hose on it 5 - 7 feet. Would be nice for the deco stage as well. A ccr-oc dive computer would make the experience nicer but is not required. A deco software program is used to plan all dives but hard tables can be used to. A second wing if diving wet is needed and can be sandwiched betwenn backplate and unit. I just bought a used vision inspo and did some normoxic trimix dives a couple of weeks ago. Setting gases and changing them if going to oc is straight forward. the vision compared to my Liquivision dive computer is way conservative but I like to dive conservative. Your basic drills as hyper and hypoxic as well as hypercapnia should be up to speed along with your dive planning skills and calculations not to mention even keel buoyancy at shallow depth. Bailout gas will be based on po2 1.4 max with shallow EAD, I like 100 feet - 30 mtr and inboard is usually based on a po2 of 1.0 max to give you a bit room to verify loop flush and sensors if you need to. A deep oc bailout will be done along with stage handling as well as gas sharing drills in various depth and situations. Under IANTD you have to have 20 dives 25 hours on the unit if I remember correctly before you can go onto normoxic trimix. greetings Matt |

Many Thanks in advance Mark I just completed MOD2, the book\lecture material was not exactly what I expected.... I'll have to go through what the formal pre-req's are, but there wasn't a whole lot of discussion\lecture on decompression theory that I would have expected in a mix level class.... (but I had from OC days) Perhaps that was intended to be nonformalized thru the dive planning discussions and exercises vs. slideware, dunno... It was generally more of the repeat of hyperoxia, hypoxia, and hypercapnia covered in MOD1 and more on dive and contingency planning, and then some. Same basic drills as MOD1; hyperoxia, hypoxia, hypercapnia, flood, total failure, and boom.... + alot of bottle handing\handoff with emphasis on keeping the team in motion. In confined water we did unit doff\don which was a confidence builder, tox diver drill, and a surface rescue\cpr scenerio. As far as additional gear, another bailout bottle fully rigged, if you didn't already have one, a SMB\lift bag (or two) for deco'ing under. Enjoy it.... -Tim |
