New Rebreather Diver - what books, DVD's etc do you suggest?

Hi

OK, so I am not quite a new Rebreather 'diver' as I haven't done MOD1 yet, but am booked on it.

I am not looking for a book on "What is a Rebreather" or the differences in the different types of breathers. I know what unit I want and why, I just have to wait till my MOD 1 date to get diving on it.

I have heard of: Mastering Rebreathers by Jeff BozanicMastering Rebreathers by Jeff Bozanic but it looks to me like a "What is a Rebreather" book. I could be wrong as I haven't actually seen a copy. I would get it if it was going to do me any good, but I would rather not spend the money on buying it and shipping it from he USA to the UK if it isn't going to tell me anything I need.

I have also seen in the RBW shop "Rebreather Fundamentals" DVD, but haven't seen any comments or reviews on it.

And finally I see Cedric has a pdf book "Nitrox Rebreather Diving", though again, I haven't seen any reviews or comes, so know nothing about it.

Basically I want something that tells me about starting to dive a rebreather, something I will find useful leading up to and beginning to dive my chosen CCR unit. I don't really want to spend the money or time (I have dyslexia, so reading anything does take me time) getting something of little value.

I do have the manual from the manufacturer, and expect to get the IANTD manual from my instructor soon and I have read everything I can find on the unit on RBW.

So, can anyone shed some more light on the 3 items I mentioned above, or suggest anything else?

Thanks

Paul,

What is your chosen rebreather out of interest?

I only ask as there's a good book on the Inspiration I could recommend, if that's your choice of CCR.

Dive safe,

Gary

Hi Gary

I have seen a few things for the Inspirations, but I am looking at the rEvo.

Thanks

Re: New Rebreather Diver - what books, DVD's etc do you suggest?

The rEvo is fairly new, so finding a unit specific book, other than the class manual might be difficult...

Fortunately some friends also went to DEMA, so I had one pick up a copy of Mel Clark's new book, which I (and a few other smarter folks) recommend. (Now available on RBW store....)

Also, a must read article here...
http://www.rebreatherworld.com/gener...e-ccr-ops.html

I'm in the same boat, just w/ a meg... I spent last sunday tearing through two buddies units over beers and I walked away w/ his ANDI/IANTD books from class to read up...

If it is worth getting, I have now found a source in the UK for it.

Try this link - What is a Rebreather? it covers the essential differences between OC, oxygen, semi-closed & closed circuit rebreathers, plus advantages/disadvantages.
