The BOV is neutrally buoyant in the water.

Re: Golem and V4tec comparo...

Hello,

I thought I'd pass on my experence with the Golem BOV on my Prism. Got the BOV last week and got into the water on a shallow ice dive on Saturday. Worked perfect. Weight of the valve was great. I found it more comfortable then the stock barrel. Routing the hose from the second stage was simple as it came off the fitting from the right, up and around my neck, down my left and pluged directly into the APD QD on the BO tank. Switching from OC to CC is really slick and I can see how this add another layer of safty. Fly SCR via the ADV or now fly SCR via the BOV.

Pressure testing on the predive was easy and held the neg test very nicely. The HUD fits on the right nut easily enough. I had to add two stips of innertupe to build it up but once I did that, the little rubber bracket held on nicely.

Hi Dave,

Did you get the threaded or clamped BOV?

Cheers,

Ben.

Hi Ben, I believe Dave got the trapazoidal threaded one=40mm bore. The clamped one is 45mm. Prism is inbetween, I think...

Re: Golem and V4tec comparo...

  • V4TEC suggests zip-tie as hose retaining device. If using on YBOD, I have posted an easy mod to use the standard APD hose connection.

Could you give me an idea of the date that you posted details of the mod to use the standard APD hose connection - i have looked for it and cannot find it.

I am looking to fit one of the Shearwater HUD's, and if I can fit it using one of the Inso Vision HUD mounts then it will look a lot neater than using the supplied Shearwater mount. I am not sure that the Vision mount will fit V4tec attachment ring as it is slightly larger than the standard insp collars.

It took me a while too... HERE

Also, about the Shearwater HUD, someone posted a nice mod to fit it to the Insp HUD holder... Basically cut a short section of a SCUBA hose, split it open along the length and use as filler between the Shearwater HUD and Insp holder.
