DSV why do they

Just was wondering, why do most DSV's have the diluent plumbed into the right side, when most people usually keep the cyl sling on the left side. This meens that you have to have a extra extra long hose that comes around the head and over the back to connect.

Re: DSV why do they

probably because most second stage regulators have the feed fitting on the right per industry standard.

Ron, a regulator in a BOV doesn't have a up position so why don't they mount it with the hose on the left?

Re: DSV why do they

ok i assume you mean an oc/dcv (bov) well i chose the nemotec bov because it could be used in any hose direction,
i now use a divematics as it's a better bov but the hose sits better coming from the right
so looks like we cant have it all...especaly when using a standard reg in a bov.
kind regards john

But if you have the oceanic Omega 2nd stage you can have it routed from the left.
I'm hoping that the one I'm waiting for feeds from the left

sure they do, they still have exaust ports and that determines up or down, if it was mounted with the exaust ports up, then It would breathe wet when on OC, try it with most (non poseidon or omega) regs. As long as BOV manufacturers are using stock built regs, this will be an issue, but what the hard part about routing the hose, just need a bit longer hose or a manifold, like the Jetsam units use.

Re: DSV why do they

You are right Ron, I was thinking of converting a normal 2nd stage to and ADV when I wrote it.

Re: DSV why do they

The Apeks Second stage (slightly modified) on Golem BOv can be rotated either way. The exhaust port is in the center of the diaphragm (Interspiro).
