BOV = bailout out valve IE KISS dsv
personally I don't use one as I don't carry enough dil to perform much of a bailout.

Hi,

I have always used the KISS OC/CC DSV. I like it a lot. Best of luck in getting one though. I know of people who have had them on order for many, many months.

This sort of device is great for a rapid and safe transition to your bailout.

Re: What BOV do you have on your Meg?

While I am not diving a Meg at this point, I do have a Golem BOV on my Inspiration that I am very happy with... I also know of several other Meg divers that have Golem BOV's on their Megs that have said good things about them. Send a PM to trob09....

Cheers!
I just need it for sanitybreathts and while I reach for my offboard bailout...
Heard of many divers experiencing CO2 problems but just cant leave the loop because they suffer from airstarvation and cant make themselves take the reg out
I have heard good things about the Golem BOV and would like to give it a go but its so expensive having it shipped to europe...
Anyone seen some pics of it mountaid on a Meg?

Cheers

Hi Rodge,

We dive as a group of three that have elected to use BOV's on our units.

On my meg i have fitted a V4Tech unit: http://www.blackgear.net. These units have been the subject of various threads on these illustrious pages over the months.

To answer your questions:

I bought this as I like the durability of the Apeks 2nd stage and the effortless breath, I also think the style of the unit has minimal impact on Jaw fatigue/vision and is compatible with the meg's dil first stage.

I ordered this from V4Tech via email after lots of questions, it arrived in the post two days later from germany with a full spares kit, and I paid for it on reciept of the invoice, via paypal, a coupla weeks later. The service from these guys is stunning, and ten minutes later it was on the meg.

This is a perfectly servicable regulator in o/c mode and the loop, irrespective of its mal***tion, (yeah, that'll be the day on a meg I know!!!) is totally isolated once you have made the switch.

In my case I use 5ltr steels on the meg, this allows a good gas reserve should I bail off, and I have an o/c reg on the 02 side for the 6mtr stops. This negates the need for any weight on the rig, and gives me an available gas reserve greater than the standard 7ltr bailout for dives within reasonable deco limits.

These are expensive I know but to coin a classic saying in the Motorcycle world:

''If you think you have a £50.00 head, go and buy a £50.00 crash helmet''

Re: What BOV do you have on your Meg?

Do you thínk it makes your hoses zag alot?...any jaw fatigue?....
Is it possible to get it with lowpreassurehose running upp your left hose?(closest way to dil-tank)

Do you have a pic of it on your Meg?

Thanx for your input!

The bov itself sits beutifully in the mouth if you use the correct lenghth LP hose to connect it via the right hand side ( as you wear the unit).

This Lp hose then runs around the rear of the main can and offers no resistance to the breathing hose on the unit. I simply tie it to the main hose with a short lenghth of bungie.

Care on setup needs to be taken when origonally installing the bov to ensure that the mouthpeice is at the correct angle to remove the chances of jaw fatigue...like I say, it took a coupla minutes to fiddle around with it before you tighten the worm drive hose clips.....

I understand you can run it from the left, but frankly, it was easier with the longer hose than pissing about with the regulator itself.

Next time I build the unit I will post a coupla piccy's so you can get an idea of the configuration....I'm on holiday next week so I will do it on my return.
