As a CCR DSV and in OC mode.... I know that Martin Parker has made several comments that he has yet to see a BOV that performs to what his expectations are in both modes... To bad that all of the demand in this area has not been enough for him to speed up the development of an AP product... M |

The best BOV isn't any good if you can't have it. ![]() Same with rebreathers, look at the Infinito. It MAY well be that AP's BOV will turn out better than any current offering. But that's a big MAY and you can't have it yet. So who cares? Divematics has BOV's ready to ship, that's all there is to it. ![]()

This looks like another example of asking the wrong question. If you are going to bail out OC you do just that. The BOV is just a stop gap, a short term solution. It provides those 'sanity' breaths we need to decide if the loop is our problem and allows us to break out of the CO2 'can't stop' dilema. The WOB can be as bad as an AutoAir tightened up so it doesn't freeflow for all I care. All I need is that it works when I need it. Incidentally... does anybody know what the WOB on a conventional snorkel is like? If back mounted C/Ls are a problem... your missing the point I think. A BOV might be a short term solution but you are breathing it when your in CCR mode arent you? Therefore I would want the WOB to be as good as the stock AP mounthpiece when in CCR mode and if it breathes well in OC mode at depth then I will be comfortable bailing out to it. I have tried BOV's that felt like you were sucking through a straw in OC mode at 100meters. I noticed some people mentioning they carry a stage below certain depths? I cant think of a shallow dive I would not want at least 40cf of bailiout gas? Your attempt at bashing is lacking, try and add to this forum not show how witty you can be. Thanks ![]()

Agreed but I have the Bob Howel BOV and I would expect that the huge open spaces inside it mean that in CC mode it is as good as the original. It does have the snag that when 'closed' and feeding the regulator it does not have an easy bypass route if you are flushing the loop.Quote: I have tried BOV's that felt like you were sucking through a straw in OC mode at 100meters. You are way beyond me there. I have not tried mine beyond 55m.Quote: I noticed some people mentioning they carry a stage below certain depths? I carry a 3L/300bar pony if I'm diving with a guy on a single to act as a donatable 'octopus'.Quote: Your attempt at bashing is lacking, try and add to this forum not show how witty you can be. Thanks I do my best. If my writing style is not to your taste it's probably because I'm an engineer - we're not that good at that stuff.![]()
