![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | BOV for Boris I am going to make a BOV to fit Boris. I plan on using the same hose attachment clamps and check valves as the original. It will use an APEKs 2nd stage. It will not be cheap. I dont get my unit for a few weeks but to start the design if anyone can give me info on the current DSV that would be great. I need to know the internal diameter the dimensions of the check valves and any details/dimensions of the hose clamp arrangements. I will be making it to fit a KM48 FFM as well as non FFM. As mentioned it will not be cheap, but if anyone is interested in one then let me know. Cheers Mike

It will use standard Apeks 2nd stage parts but they will be housed in the BOV housing. I hate 'adapters' as they are normally done, so will either make it without, just for the Boris, or make the adapters with a bolted on flange with a stationary o-ring seal and have them bolted to (as in, part of) the BOV body.

Ala the Nemotech which I use and like...Quote: ...or make the adapters with a bolted on flange with a stationary o-ring seal and have them bolted to (as in, part of) the BOV body. That would work for me to use on the Evolution/Insp.Last request (if possible), how about option for APD flapper valves to fit ? They are readily available (for me) so easier than trying to get Boris parts. I also have some R.E. Darling hoses that fit the Rebreather-80 so could do hose clamps arrangement on the BOV side (if diameter fits), but still have to sort out the other end (Insp connectors to the T pieces).

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: BOV for Boris Mike, The connection to the 2nd stage should be a quick release mechanism, the ideal would be to use the same as for the offboard connection on Boris (Swagelok) not sure on the specs concerning the flow (restriction) if it is good enough for OC at depth! A little bit like Bob Howell use to have with is BOV and quick gas connection system Cheers,

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: BOV for Boris Mike I'm sure you checked but When I was chatting with Phil Short he mentioned that there is already a BOV/FFM that is currently being tested for the borris He indicated that it would be avaliable middle of the year once it's got CE stamped so could be worth finding out and waiting? For every one else he also stated that they would only be sold to people with Borises so will probably prove as illusive as the KM with nato pods! Fin |

Fin Its a normal DSV that fits into a Drager Panoroma mask - to bail you have to remove the DSV from the mask and plug in a 2nd stage. Its not a integrated OC/CC switcheable valve. I considered it (and it would be available for my unit on collection) but there are a number of reasons why I dont like this set up personally. So far in my review the km48 with an integrated OC/CC bov is still the best.
