Maybe I'll run into you at BTS Mark.Dive Safe... Mark I am hoping there will be some information on the new Jetsam valve, otherwise I am looking into the Divematics BOV. Tim |

Well when i met Gordon in October we talked abit about the new BOV, and he said that today the only part of their rebreather not being molded was just the BOV, that piece was 100% handmade. So he said that when the new version was out they would be able to produce 100 sports kisses a day. Another thing about the new version is going to be the weight and the size of it. Also he said it would have a much better regulator.Any ideas whats the difference between the new and old?...Any idea? /Jonny

That is going to be the slow process. Nor to i believe there will be the demand of ever producing such a number of machines anyway. But he was looking forward to it. that's good goingBOV hmm could be nice /Jonny

Jetsam recently told me (when I tried to buy a BOV from them) that they were not available for aftermarket sales at present and they had no idea when they would be. I assume this is due to whatever production they are running now being dedicated to new units (makes sense) rather than retrofits. So I'd say that until they address supply issues the only "currently available" BOV which you can buy for any arbitrary Rebreather is the DiveMatics. Injection molding is not cost-effective for small runs (e.g. 10s) but sure is for larger ones (100s+); the mold costs are way out of proportion but once you have them cranking out the parts is both fast and inexpensive.

The new one Gordon showed me at DEMA was a bit more streamlinedthan the current one, with a lever on top to switch from OC to CC. Rather than a large twist knob. The main difference though were the one way valves, they were side hinged like a submarine hatch, rather than center mounted. That appearantly allows for good stiffness (needed to seal) while opening with quite a bit less effort. From conversations with Gordon, Tracy and Pete, there seems to be a fine line between sealing and WOB, and it's based on the flexibilty of the valve. Thinking out of the box once again, Gordon seems to have found a way. ![]() I miss him ![]() Jonny is correct regarding the manufacture of the current BOV, it's the limiting factor in Jetsam's capabilities. It's time and money consuming. Karl, remember that Gordon was a toolmaker by trade. He build anything from a compressor to a WOB testing machine himself. Helps to keep the costs down. Jetsam is but a small portion of what they're doing up there. Just visit the kiss manufacturing website. ![]()
