| Swagelock parts to connect 1st stage to Miflex I'm sure this must be here somewhere but my searches are not giving me the answers I need... I have an AP BOV. I tried connecting it to my deep bailout with a standard LP hose and AP disconnects but the hose restricted moving my head left and right, and besides I am not so sure I am comfortable with the AP quick disconnects after reading reports on here about them failing closed. I swapped the hose for a Miflex - much better in terms of mobility but when I tried to attach the quick disconnects the Miflex was ruined - the threads on the fitting will not bite into the outer sheath of the hose. I screwed one end of the Miflex to the 1st stage of my bail out and kept the other capped, along with the BOV. It works, but it's a PITA to screw the Miflex to the BOV after clipping the stage on, even more so to secure the Miflex to the loop using velcro strips. I am reluctant to connect the BOV to my onboard dil - I reckon the 3L would be little more use than a Spare Air if I had a CO2 hit, even if completley full. So, sorry for the long background, but does anyone know the Swagelock codes for a decent size quick disconnect that will screw directly into a first stage (Scubee Mk 25) and onto the 1st stage thread of a Miflex hose? I am ashamed to admit that I am baffled when I look at the Swagelock website, but one thing is for certain - when I need my BOV it will be bugger all use to me sat on a shelf at home, so I need to get this sorted. | CK #159 | Re: Swagelock parts to connect 1st stage to Miflex After reading your post....All I can think of is that you live up to you screen name. From what you are asking, if it was me. I'd order stainless QC-6 connectors (both male and female) in female 1/4" NPT (national pipe thread), a union fron 1/4 male NPT to 3/8 female UNF and a 9/16 male UNF to male 1/4" NPT. The last fitting (9/16 to 1/4") you'll need to take to a machinist and have reamed to 3/8" (.375) on the 9/16 side, plus a little bit of a bevel on the leading edge. So the o-ring won't get cut. (Sorry, I'm not digging up the part numbers because I just site at the desk and tell the salesman what I want) Then you could use two standard reg hoses to connect you BOV. Cheers!! Kevin |

| Re: Swagelock parts to connect 1st stage to Miflex Swagelok parts are good but expensive especially as you will need to start buying adapters to make them work (there aren't IIRC any Swagelok parts in standard scuba fittings). Why not just get the QR's that Omniswivel do? The male end screws direct on to the male fitting of the BOV, the female screws into a standard LP hose. I've had them on mine for a couple of years, work fine. Golem and Dive Gear Express sell them though Golem's shipping is a good bit cheaper to the UK than DGE. |

| Thanks everyone - reputation added all round for helping me out. If i've somehow missed you out please pm me. In the end I went with some bits from Golem - you don't even want to know what Swagelock UK wanted for 2 QD fittings, and that was before the hassle of machining/adapting them. The major hassle with my current set up is having to screw the the hose into the BOV, route the hose back to my bail out tin, and secure the LP hose to the loop whilst sat kitted and staged on the boat - I wanted to leave the LP hose permanently attached to the BOV and loop with the tail by my left hip ready to to plug into the bail out tin. I've ordered an M&J QD - the male end has a check valve and should screw directly into the 1st stage without an adaptor. The female end should attach to the LP hose with just one adaptor, so job done. I'll post a photo once the bits arrive. CC |
