purging bov on entry

Here is my new problem.
I have been using a Golem BOV since I first bought my Meg. I have put well over 200 dives and never had this problem.
After doing my giant stride upon entering the water the BOV gets stuck in a purge state. By switching to oc it resolves itself after a couple of breaths and I then switch back to cc and all is well.
If anyone has experienced this please let me know how to remedy this.
I cannot jump in, in oc mode and then switch because I almost always use 10/50 for dill.
I have checked to make sure the apex cylinder is in proper placement so that the purge lever is not getting hung up on the shoulders and the second stage works properly when at depth.
Any sugestions will be apreciated.

Gabe

Re: purging bov on entry

I have had a few problems in the past with my GG bov freeflowing as well when I jump in.

1)I checked my 1st stage IP, make sure it is no more than 10bar (9-10bar recommended). Get 1st stage serviced if it needs it.

2) Check the cracking pressure on the BOV 2nd stage and adjust if necessary.

3) service the 2nd stage (its an apex 2nd stage) and the rest of the BOV.

My problems cleared up after these simple steps.

HTH

Re: purging bov on entry

Thanks Pete for the advice.
I checked the IP today and it is at 145 lb/sqi with no creep it functioned properly when using the second stage.
I also increased the cracking pressure on the second stage and checked
the O-rings and seat and seal.
I shall see if it helped this Sunday on the next dives.

Re: purging bov on entry

Hi Gabe,

It is a problem when entering the water with the majority of BOV's.

The best way to stop it free flowing to to add a flow-stop at the inlet for the BOV. Just remember to check it at 6m when you do your bubble check and it's ready to go.

Just wait until you see the new ISC BOV...You're going to love it!!!

Regards,

Lance
