Question Thoughts on AP's new BOV Twist hoses Or Turn knob ?

Just wondered what peoples thoughts were about the new AP BOV . The thing that concerns me is that if you "twist " the DSV on an Inspo it either takes the mouthpiece away from you or twists the hoses & puts stress on your jaw to hang onto it , whereas the other BOVS (Golum, Divematics,V4tec) rely on twisting the knob which does not affect the hoses or mouthpiece . Would the new AP offering when switched to OC produce significant jaw ache on a long bailed out deco due to the "twist on the hoses ? (For the sake of clarity I do realise you could twist the hoses while in OC mode to make it more comfortable but that is not the point !)

Re: Thoughts on AP's new BOV Twist hoses Or Turn knob ?

Surely this question can only be answered by an AP test diver?
Its due Q2, so sometime in April-June we get the answer (more likely later)

In the mean time I'd guess (hope) they tested this....

Re: Thoughts on AP's new BOV Twist hoses Or Turn knob ?

You are assuming that the new BOV works in the same way as the existing DSV, dose the mouthpiece move when switching from CC to OC? Maybe a trawl through the photos in the gallery would answer that?

The BOV shown at the dive show in '07 rotated to switch from CC/ADV to OC (apparently) the one on show at LIDS was CC to OC according to the marks on the yellow index ring.

As an aside- its beautifully made, from what I saw.

Yes it works the same as the current DSV.

I definitely agree with you ,it is very nicely made .Lids was my first chance to see it so I never saw the version with ADV .

The prototype at the last NEC show had 3 positions, the one at LIDS had been changed to 2 positions (OC/CCR), it no longer had an ADV built in.

Im pleased, ADV in the mouthpeice would mean Dil being directly inspired. Not a good idea for big He hypoxic gas in the shallows.

The switch method means the loop would only be off by 15-20 degrees. Makes little difference.
I wouldnt have thought a BOV would be used for extended periods.

When I bailed of to OC using a Kiss BOV I stayed on the BOV from the bottom till on the boat .(from about 35m, total including deco about 15 minutes )

Brent you are doing a good job of swaying me away from your divematics !
