Skill to remove the BOV-DSV to replace with offboard 2nd stage should be developed and practised. Ever have a mouthpeice disconnect? or need to save a buddy? |

That was an excercise many times repeated during training. You mention other reasons but I think the primary reason is that most often BOV is on onboard diluent which is emptied in a matter of minutes necessitating the switch to the secondary offboard 2nd stage.Skill to remove the BOV-DSV to replace with offboard 2nd stage should be developed and practised. Ever have a mouthpeice disconnect? or need to save a buddy?

I know more than one instructor that when suggesting a final "meg" configuration to a student they include a Golem BOV from the start.Probably not exclusively, but it'll be part of it. Otherwise you wouldn't be learning that particular unit, and unit specific courses would not be needed. ![]() They then make this part of the training program. |

Oh yeah, your right . I'm accustomed to having the BOV fed by offboard (I can switch to onboard if needed). I meant even in this config (which prevents the surprise emptying of a small OB tank). |
