Paul,
I have an extreme on my BOV from Divematics.. I love it.. It breaths great at any depth.. the only negatove.. that initial pressurization burst..

I tried an Apeks on the same BOV no comparison.. I immediately went back to the poseidon..

I have always found that the poseidons can go for along time without service.. I've had this second stage for at least 3 years and it still breathes the same as the day I got it without any service.. all I do is rinse it in fresh water after every dive day, and periodically check the cracking pressure..

If you understand how they are put togther the service is pretty easy (I think its easier than a balanced second )...

Re: Poseidon Xtreme on BOV??

Paul,

Don't ask questions.... just make it!

The Xtreme is excellent. I want the second one you do.

Re: Poseidon Xtreme on BOV??

I dive a xstream only OC. The reg works on every deep. At 100 m you think you need a breath and then your lungs are full. The WOB is phantastic. The spare parts are very expensive. My reg have 300 diveīs w/o any service. Poseidon sayīs do the service every 3 years, thats enough. The regs must be cleaned after every salt water dive and donīt accept the life as an "Octopus", they must been fixed at the BCD, or so. When the have sand in it this is not god for the exhaust membrane, then you have a good chance to inhale water!

The first stages have 3-4 spare parts and the HP seat is a bowl. No fading, no Problems. At the early xstreams (mine) you canīt adjust the IP, i think this is a very good feature, but a many dealers in Germany said this very bad. And so the new xstreams has an IP that can be adjust by the shopīs and the owners with a hex key.

I have sold many xstream and NO xstream come back with any reclamation. After 4 years i have change the filter in the 1st stage, thatīs all.
I hope you understand my english.

Cheers Markku

Xstream (2īnd) is a spinoff from Jetstream that have been around for about 25-30 yeras. The internals is very different but even easyer (if you got the special Poseidon tools) to service and adjust than alot of other "normal" 2īnd stages.

One downside is that you cant use a standard hose.

Re: Poseidon Xtreme on BOV??

of course poseidon and CCR are using Xstreams on their BOVs

CCR's on the sentinal is a standard Xstream
The posiedon on the Discovery is based on the Xstream.

Re: Poseidon Xtreme on BOV??

Paul ... if you want a good simple reg for a BOV you should look at the Dacor/Mares Viper. I have fitted this to my KISS BOV and it works a charm.

Its small very good to breath and it is a left/right hand reg. I have run mine from the left hand side to be on the same side as my switching block.

regards Baz

PS boards fitted and looking good will test this weekend.
