V4TEC or Golem ?

I know that this subject was already more or less discussed on this forum, but ...

I am living in Belgium, Europe

VT4C Bov is selled by a german company at 680 Euros excluding tax
Golem Bov is selled by an amarican company et 650 Euros excluding tax

I do not know what I must choose for my Evolution Vision because with transport cost and importation tax, I think that the Golem Bov will cost me a lot more than the V4TEC

Re: V4TEC or Golem ?

Mark Chase had some issues with his V4TEC http://www.rebreatherworld.com/bail-...ighlight=v4tec, but from another thread, I understand that they are now resolved.

There are plenty of threads about the Golem - it seems to get very good write-ups indeed.

FWIW, I was trying to make the choice between the V4TEC and the Golem when someone listed a KISS BOV on here. I got that for a very good price (about half the price of a V4TEC or Golem) with the Inspo adaptors. So far, it's going very well. It might not be as good as the other two, but for what I do (up to 50m, no overhead and limited deco for now), it's just the ticket.

Colin Icky was listing their KISS BOV on here, with Inspo adaptors, a couple of weeks ago for an even better price than I paid http://www.rebreatherworld.com/rebre...light=KISS+BOV

Good luck,

Re: V4TEC or Golem ?

I personally dive a Golem and am very happy with it. Many of my fellow divers are also using them and very happy with them.

Re: V4TEC or Golem ?

I get on very well with my V4TEC BOV , as with lots of things people make there own choices based on a lot of criteria.

Andrew.

Mark Chase resolved his issues with his V4Tec by selling it to me!!

I was'nt too impressed with it to be honest.

Too big and heavy for me for to hold in my mouth for any length of time.

It would'nt hold negative test either, which to be honest I knew about before I bought it, but it became frustrating after a while.

Did a couple of dives with it and promptly sold it on eBay (for a bit more than I paid for it )

I know there are others on here who use the V4Tec and swear by them, but I would'nt use one again, but as Andrew says people make their own choices.

Just my two penneth

Dive safe,

Gary

& that was after I had it on a trial basis & decided it was to heavy as well !
I know there is now a modification for the V4tec that is standard on their new ones & I believe can be retro fitted to the older ones that resolved the +/- test issues .

I do still have a Kiss Bov with Inspo adapters for sale .I thought it was sold but got messed around by someone on another forum

A third option is to wait and see what the AP BOV is like, performance and price wise, when it goes on sale to the public sometime in 2008.

There's pictures and write ups on it somewhere on Rebreather World, it was shown at the Birimingham Dive Show last month.

Dive safe,

Gary
