![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New Golem BOV? Have you tried it upside down? You can get just replacement diaphragms from Interspiro UK for about £20 I think. Looks like a PITA to replace though. The diaphragm assembly looks to cost in the region of £48+vatOK were not upside down much ![]() My only concern about the present unit is the difficulty in obtaining and the cost of replacement diaphragms. The reg breaths very wet if its inverted which is a surprise too. I found the WOB on the present unit to be comparable to the standard KISS unit. ATB Mark Interspiro UK and Ireland |

IIRC from my OC days, Apeks second stages were quite wet when upside down as well but is a relatively easy problem to fix. No, as in the above post its an Interspiro part and it costs about £70 from Golum ATB Mark

It looks like you can get it cheaper in the UK that I can ATB Mark ![]() The diaphragm replacement should not be a PITA. 1) unscrew regulator cover 2) remove old diaphragm 3) drop in new diaphragm 4) screw in regulator cover |

That's what looks like a PITA and probably more effort than it's worth ![]() |

| Closed Circuit Divers Aus Current Rebreather/s: | Re: New Golem BOV? You have just done your MOD-2 so some of these might be applicable to you, but keep in mind... Hey Deco, The lighter weight has a number of benefits including jaw fatigue but if it were to come down to having a lighter BOV with decreased performance I will take the old unit over the lighter one. If I am going to bail out I am going to keep the BOV in my mouth the whole time as I have the bailout connected in via the manifold. No more loop floating around your eyes and getting in the way for extended periods. If the weight is correct right now u/w (i.e. neutral) with your set-up, what would (dry) lighter weight benefit you ? If the intention to use the BOV as the medium to get off the unit while getting the OC from the stage, why do you need the absolute best breathing 2nd-stage on it ? On the other hand, having a smaller surface will help reducing drag, and subsequent effort to bite, when scootering. If you have a scooter and are worried about the drag then go for what works for you.....But looking at the unit I don't think there will be a lot of difference. Lance

[*]YES, I totally agree but have you ever sat on the boat on the loop waiting to get into the water when the boat captain keeps changing is mind on the spot or they are having trouble picking up the mooring line..... If you already have done your pre-breath and ready to go, why are you keeping the loop in your mouth while waiting such a long time ?Would you do the same thing (i.e. breathing from the reg while waiting a long time) on OC too ? Just leave the loop open and hang, then pick up just before jumping in. For the rest... Never mind. ![]()

Never mind. ![]() ![]() If you have dived with a FFM you will probably know what I am saying otherwise get hold of one and give it a go ![]() No....I'd leave the BOV in my mouth even when bailed out to OC. If you have a manifold it makes your options and actions a whole lot easier. Also keeps the loop out of the way and the OC regs staged where they are out of the way too. Other than that.......What Can I Say........ ![]() Lance
