In-Water BOV Connecting

Currently in the process of installing new BOV...

Normally, when installing my side-mounted sling tanks, I get them handed to me in water, and I sling them on. If I do this to my offboard BOV supply, some sea-water may/will get into the LP hose.

What are your thoughts and advise about this? Is it a concern?

Shall I only install and connect my offboard BOV supply before entering water?

Re: In-Water BOV Connecting

Should not have any problem not connecting your offboard to your BOV until at depth. The small amount of water inside your BOV's 2nd stage (say, from connecting a wet CEJN fitting) can be quickly blown out by switching to open circuit, inhaling and exhaling once, then going back to closed circuit.

Not a biggie...

By the way, what kind of fittings do you use for your BOV and offboard?

I used the one illustrated here: Quick disconnect for BOV or second stage regulator.

I was going to plumb the set-up as detailed here: http://www.rebreatherworld.com/bail-...-critique.html

but then I started considering Dave Suttons advice (about using offboard to supply loop + BOV and use the onboard tank for utility) once I had all the bits and peices in hand, and I ended up completely changeing the plan, to something that is hopefully better.

Being placed in a specific posting.
