Hey does everyone rely on the QC to stop the gas flow both to and from the on board gas supplies? (as opposed to having a shut off valve also)

Yes. Swagelok QC-6's are about as bulletproof as you could desire.

The above post about a BOV being for C02 and the unwillingness to go off the mouthpiece in place is an EXCELLENT point. The BOV needs to be on a suitably large cylinder if used. RMV and time needed to recover from hypercapnia will blow thru gas like no tomorrow.

I am still kicking around the idea of a BOV - personally I believe that Open Loop is the first step but then I can see the benefit of flicking a switch rather than removing your DSV.
Ok, first of all, OMG!!!!!

After using my Golem BOV for the first time (tested below three feet of ice in water 34 degree F), they ROCK!! Thanks Jakub. Sweet, sweet, sweet!!!!!

All I did was run a 40 inch LP hose from the BOV, along the left breathing hose and down to my onboard first stage. Perfect length. It was also great to try out my new neoprene covers that slide onto my breathing hoses. Too sweet. This is the unit for diving under the ice!!!

TOO FRICKIN' SWEET............I recommend the Golem BOV for every unit. It's worth every penny.

Life is good.

Tim,

Very nice and clean, great job!

How is the breathing on BOV at depth since it is going thru a few connection points ?

And disregard my PM, I figured out the manifold question. Thanks...

I simulated the heavy breathing of a CO2 hit at 315-ish feet and found it to breath fine. I sent a response on the Manifold question anyway..
