| Check your handsets, and carry some tables. Did a 260' dive on saturday with a buddy, there was another Inspiration diver and OC guy on the boat. Descent went well, we hot dropped and all hit the wreck...nice start. Planned bottom time of 20 min's. My buddy and I went aft and the other pair went forward, at 20 min we were to all meet and ascend along the superstructure. That all went well, all met up and began to prepare for the ascent. Being the nosy mother I am, I tend to steal looks at peoples handsets when I can...guess what. 20 min at 260 at .7, yep never switched to high setpoint. Pointed at his hand sets and he looked at them and looked back at me like "ok whats wrong?"...wrote on my slate "you never switched to high sp". Then it clicked finally. Then a look of confusion sat in...he had an HS (non integrated) and had switched the HS but not the inspiration. he carries no tables. Fortunately my HS craps on a regular basis so tables are my bread and butter. Fortunately no one got bent and everyone learned a lesson.
Check your handsets...and calculate and verify what they are telling you. Carry tables and a timer just in case, and be prepared to use them. |
