Hello there,
My wife and i have about 150 OC dives in each and thought that it would be good to increase our dive times to enjoy our sport more, so we have just completed the MOD 1 (Inspiration and Evolution) in the Philippines and we would just like to thank Rebreather World for making it a little easier for us both in the explanation of what the whole CCR world consists of and also the phsycological trips that you go on during the course.
We were fortunate that we did it together as one day I would be on a high and she on a low and then the next it would reverse.
Just when it all seemed to be coming together something stupid would happen and you would think "Im I ever going to master this thing" !! The next day you would leave to go back to the hotel thinking "well, I am getting there" after it all came together again,just as many have said, and written about here in Rebreather World before us, in the various forums.
We both now understand that we are still on a learning curve but at least after the course it is flattening out a little.
Problems on the course with equipment were limited to a cell failure on my new Inspiration and this is being replaced free of charge from APD.and a battery warning on the wifes new Evolution, battery replacement solved that.
We would also say that the level of instruction has a lot to do with the course and we were fortunate that we had picked Paul Neilson out of Hong Kongs Mandarin divers as ours. He would see when it was getting fraught and call the next dive a fun dive, and it would be, relaxing and informative but also confidence boosting, so big thanks to Paul and his team at Mandarin.
So to any of you considering changeing over to CCR, go for it.
Read as much as you can before you start the course and select a good instructor and it will all fall into place.
We are heading off again soon to the Philippines to get some benefit from the units and get some more time in as, as with OC, experience and practice is what it is all about.
