Re: Commercial Diving - Science related

it's more than the mixing work and pleasure scenario. I have been a contract diver for 10 years. Have a BSc in marine biology and have worked as a commercial inshore salvage/construction diver. I've been on science projects all over the world. let's put it this way...science world won't pay, commercial world does pay, but you have a short shelf life and the work is everything but glamorous. Easiest and only ticket into scientific diving is via a scientific diver program through an AAUS institution or the like. There are many jobs as research technicians for NOAA that use diving as a tool, but good luck with a fulltime job as a scientific diver...doesn't exist at the moment.
