Looking at getting an OC/CC DSV for my YBOD

The options I see available are:
  • KISS
  • NemoTech (Filip Krolak's)
  • Bob Howell
  • Divematics
Have seen and played with a KISS one - which I liked the action of (in shallow water anyway) but I think a front facing lever might be more 3rd party friendly. Also saw a thread on here about someone swapping out the flapper valves to Inspo ones for an improved WOB, so is WOB an issue with the KISS one?
Have also seen a Bob Howell one - which I felt was a tad bulky, but otherwise seems OK.
Not seen either of the others in the flesh, so have no idea what they're like, only what I've seen in pictures. If there are some other obscure models I've not mentioned any suggestions are appreciated.

So what's the concensus on the best one to get, taking into consideration price, action, WOB, availability, servicibility, robustness, spares, ease of fitting to the YBOD, 2nd stage choise etc.

If someone has one that they might be prepared to part with, perhaps we could come to a deal....

Hi Simon,

I think you'll find that there are some fans of the Divematics on this board, and for us UK customers the biggest drawback is the price. You can get it with a cold-water reg, as he builds whatever you want - poss an ATX200 as servicing, parts, performance are cheap and readily available here. I', sure he'll incorporate a second hand reg if you post it over, so you cant get much better than that.

A way to get round HMC&E is to ship it to a divecentre youre friendly with outside the EU, (Red Sea somewhere) go there for a holiday, fit the mouthpiece, scratch it up a bit and, voila, waltz back through Customs scott free.

I know someone who has a brand new KISS mouthpiece that he may part with. An issue with fitting the KISS to an Inspiration is the need for converters, they are expensive, apart from adding more delrin to the loop, and may put the price closer to a DSV of your design.

Just my ppo2, I'm sure other OC/CC converts on the is board will confim that once you have one you wont to get rid of it.

I have a Divematics one, you welcome to have a go, in fact Falmouth in a couple of weeks. C U there.

cheers
