If you had a CO2 hit, the experienced Rebreather divers on this site say that an inboard 3L cylinder is totally inadequate.
Otherwise, would a T join be the answer? Personally I wouldn't want to add another potential failure point but......

I'm planning on running a line from both the manifold and stage, with a quick connect system. For "basic" dives, I will run it primarily from the manifold but for deepies, I will start the dive with it plumbed into the stage.
