I would suggest you plumb it into an external stage rather than your onboard 3L cylinder.

If you had a CO2 hit, the experienced Rebreather divers on this site say that an inboard 3L cylinder is totally inadequate.

Otherwise, would a T join be the answer? Personally I wouldn't want to add another potential failure point but......
