| Do you inspect rental tanks before diving? For those that often fly to their diving destination, you are faced with either renting tanks or packing your own for your rebreather and offboard bailout/deco. For all of the safety that we attempt to implement into our personal procedures, I'm curious as to how many put full faith into the visual and O2 clean stickers on the rental tanks they encounter. I'm sure some of you have heard horror stories of rental tanks having something short of sewage inside them.
So, for those that rent, do you visually inspect the cylinders at the shop before getting them filled? And, when you are done with the trip, do you clean your 1st stage regulators (at least O2 regs) to ensure they are oxygen compatible again?
Edit: The first option should read: I visually inspect the cylinders and clean the regs after the trip.
...sorry about that
