It is usually done on live-aboard trips when you simply want to change the sorb quickly between dives.

Flip the unit around, take off the scrubber bottom, remove the sorb insert, take it down-wind to change, come back and re-install everything.

Otherwise, when at home, I take everything apart and clean/lub everything each time I change sorb since I have a few days to do it...

But Graham could always come back and prove me wrong though...
