The MK15 design has stood the test of time pretty well.
It's leages ahead of any homebuild I've seen, and I consider the design basics better than some commercially available designs that have been designed since.
The successor, the MK15.5, would still be my choice over most CCRs today if available.
(not counting the odd unit that Colkan builds every once in a while)
The15s are absolutely beautifully made, the all metal center section makes even a Meg look lame.
But the 15s are old units that need upgrading, and you better know exactly what you're doing when fiddling with them. There are maybe two or three people I would let do work on mine if I had one, and I would not even consider doing it myself. Which is a major reason why I wouldn't want one. Except as a collector's item.
