Thanks for the compliment, it was just lots of elbow grease I should get at least an extra knot of swimming speed .
I don't remember the exact length in that pic but I just measured them at 14 inch(36cm) the length dues depend on how you adjust and wear your counter lungs and configure your rig. To long, jaw fatigue from buoyancy to short and you will have to helicopter to see what is next to you, plus if to short it will have a tendency to kink at the elbow. you could start out by bunching up the ribs in the hose while diving and have your Buddy measuring what works for you. as you said be conservative, and remember that as you get comfortable with the rig you will want to make changes. it never ends Good luck
