Look at the staff of any research university. A cleverer bunch of people you are unlikely to find but common sense is a very rare commodity.

I guess a sensible diver is better than a clever diver. I can only speak for myself but every single one of the incidents that came close to sending me for a dirt nap was because I'd either not followed the rules or got a little overexcited (case in point, my biggest bend: 15min at 90m with 40min of deco? Wow! I love this new VPM stuff!!! Oh, I'm bent, I wonder how that happened...).

Intelligence doesn't necessarily go with common sense. Well there has to be some explanation for Blair being re-elected...
