Side mount is the best way to go. The new Dive Rite system wil mount up to your existing backplate with no problems. You can reach and turn on take off and pass with no problems. I have been using mine for a long time before it was released.
I agree 100% wish I was doing it with my deco bottles when I was diving OC.
The problem with the Grey wolf plate is the width and it also bends up and around so it was awkward to side-mount. The bottles will bang into the side of plate and never tuck under your arm. Once I switched over to a flat and narrower plate side mounting was unbelievable I will sling to 80,s and still reach around to make sure their still there! Like I said earlier wish I had learned this on OC
