Re: Need ideas for attaching bailout bottles

I (and 2 friends) just got our new PRISMs last month. We are still doing our shakedown dives with then. We primarily dive deep at Lake Tahoe (6228 surface elev.) in "colder" (~39 deg in winter) water. Yes, its still fun . . . .

Anyway, we have gotten the Grey Wolf stainless steel back plates so carry the drysuit bottles and distribute some weight and we are trying to figure out how to create attachment points to carry at least 2 80 cu ft bailout bottles - especially the high clips at the shoulders. The little rings on the counterlungs are not big/sturdy enough. If we run a separate harness under the lungs the D-rings are underneath the lungs - hard to get to. If we run the harness "through" the lungs (in through the weight pocket area), the strap runs over the weight pocket and the D-ring is now inside the zipper - out of reach. Obviously we can't run a harness over the lungs. We see no way of placing D-rings on the counterlungs.

So for heavy deco bailout bottles (2-3 - we're at altitude), where are people hanging their bottles, other than just a top hook off the waist.

Send ideas and pictures!! We are scratching our heads.
Hi Chris

Congrats on your PRISM.

When I was diving the grey wolf plate I purchased Highland mill d-rings Link: Highland Advanced Diving Equipment Even though it was a bit of a pain I was still able to hook and unhook under the counter lung. The deep sea sideways rings I never liked because they dug into my arms. Once you start accumulating time it will become more comfortable and you will forget your lungs are there. I would not hang any bottle larger than a 30cu off of the lung. I personally dive my own custom plate now because I side mount my Bail out bottles. The Weber plate is a little over 15" wide and the side mount just did not work for me with that plate.

Hope this helps any questions feel free to post or PM Happy Thanksgiving and good luck
