Thanks for the article.

The only point I would make is that I do not see sanity breaths as a solution to hypoxia, I believe that the only immediate reaction to low O2 is to do a diluent flush, this is taught by every agency I teach for whether IANTD, TDI, PSA or ITDA.

Even with a neck-tied regulator the time it can take to close a DSV and secure the regulator can be too long, especially if the cylinder is closed and we have all found cylinders we believed to be opened that have closed!

A diluent flush is almost instantaneous and can save a life, as stated in a previous thread, I have seen a diver go unconscious coming off the loop to secure a second stage to breathe from.
