How long will a new scrubber cannister last for an rgu-fm in dive hours?
Recommendation: Do NOT plan on using an original single use disposable scrubber in an actual underwater situation- even a pool dive.

When I rebuilt one of my RGUFM rigs last year to make it travel friendly, first order of business was to build a refillable scrubber using the shells of two disposable units. Just for grins I took a sealed scrubber dated 1992 and couch dived it before cutting it open. In less than 30 minutes of sitting still I had a ringing CO2 headache and was really huffing away. When I cut it open the stuff inside was like no ‘sorb I’ve ever seen, big pellets about 6 mm in diameter and 5 to 10 mm long.

The refillable scrubber has the same internal volume as the original disposable. Filled w/ 6-12 it lasted a solid 90 minutes in pool testing.
