First look

Got to do a try a dive on the Ouroboross with Kevin in our pool.

The unit is unbeleiably robust, with no rubber hoses or o-rings on the pneumatics. All hoses are Stainless steel with compression fittings.

Posiedon extremes for first stages.

The solenoid can apperntly handle IP's that range from practically nothing to as high as 20bar.

The Electronics package is completely intergrated. Digital pressure monitoring, full onboard decompression, the works. The startup routine had the usual checklist except that when your do your loop pressure checks the system can actually tell you if the loop is leaking.

The scrubber is way cool. A short and very wide radial donut. Kevin has added some patented s - shaped fins that radiate out from the center of the scrubber. These improve dwell time by I beleive between 10 - 20 % giving you even longer duration.

Two 13cft tanks are installed as standard. When I asked why there was no integrated bailout or BCD inflation, Kevin made a very convincing argument for seperating these aspects from your rig to reduce failure points, and place them on your offboard bailouts.

The H.U.D. has a lot more info on then I'm used to seeing and the vibration alram will definitely get your attention.

Some of the other cool features, include two wicked gas blocks that sit on your harness just below your colar bone. These allow you to plug in offboard gases into the automation of the unit. So you can plug offboard Dill into the ADV and off board oxygen (or whatever you have) into the solenoid. There's a cut off valve for both the ADV and the solenoid a as well, so you can shut them both down and without interuppting the manual feeds.

A peculiar feature is an extra Po2 display on the lower back of the shell so team memebers can see eacothers readings.

I couldn't really give it a fair swim test as the harness was way to big for me, suffice to say that it is quite a big unit.

I'd like to dive it agian with my harness and give it a fairer swim test.

Since I spend every moment I have making my Meg smaller and more streamlined, this unit is not for me as it's too big, but the electronics package is to die for and the one overwhelming feature is that unit is the thoughest out there. I think you hit it with a bus, and it would still keep going.

Perhaps a good commerical unit?

Cheers

Seb
