Re: Azimuth Tanks - Convert to DIN

Yes I have partly done away with the odd valves/regs. A problem is that most valves that fit the 4l-cylinders will be very hard to fit in the unit without cutting the chassis and without sticking out a bit to much.

I found a low profile standard DIN valve that will fit in the chassis with an Apeks DS4 first stage on it. Its a single exit version of the valve on this picture: http://www.divex.se/nitrox/2X6300n.jpg

Since I live near the store selling these valves (Välkommen till Divex!) it was easy for me. But I know that OMG (Azimuth producer) also sell M25 Air-DIN valves that will fit the Azi (probably rather expensive...). I think there is also a German company (Aircon) selling valves that could fit.

Anyway, if you convert to Air-DIN, why not change for say Apeks DS4 and maybe even cap the membrane to get a fixt IP. So as to get a more 'conventional' CMF-SCR setup (Give that you adjust the IP correctly). Caps for fixt IP and cheap DS4-first stages can be bought from:Tauchen - Cave, Nitrox, Rebreather Ausbildung, Tec Ausrüstung, Reisen

I did those changes as a part of converting my Azi to a KISS-style MCCR.

Now I may be heading for warmer waters and I suspect I may have a little fun with getting the tanks on the azimuth filled...

So either going to get my own filling adaptor

OR was thinking........

Can get the bits to convert the MR12 first stages to DIN (around 15 quid per Reg), and then replace the tank valves with DIN convertible A-Clamp valves which can be filled anywhere...

Sure someone has already thought of (or even done it) but my thoughts as follows

+ gets rid of the easily damaged external threaded valve problem
+ easier to find fills
- loss of CE compliance - would have to keep bits for when unit sold
- new valves may be a bit longer
- would need to either use left handed valves or use the regs underneath rather than on top...

Any thoughts / suggestions ?
Thanks in advance
