I hose the whole unit down while it's complete before dismantling anything. Diving in the Red Sea is very salty indeed so if you allow anything to dry before washing in fresh water you get a massive build up of salt crystals which can cause a lot of damage over time. Especially where plastic and/or O-rings are concerned
