what side of the rebreather do you want to design.

the electronics
in order to do the electronic you will need to understand instrumentation and embeded controller (ie. pics)

the mechanical side
a good systems basic class is a nice start, a class in machining so what you design can be built, a lot of research into rebreather designs. most everyone steals what they can from others out there.and a willingness to try.

good luck atur school. remember common sence was never taught in a class room.
