| Can it be made simpler? I am new to CCR diving, certified in June and probably around 25 hours underwater with my new unit. Doing a lot of underwater photography, I think it is a great improvement over OC, both in term of the bubbles (or lack thereof) and extended bottom time. The catch however is all the logistic around it , which in a way spoils the fun. I was in Cozumel recently and I took my unit there, and although I was able to dive with it, it was not without some running around to get O2 and / or Sofnolime.
There is a great deal of similarity between CCR and cars running on alternative energies. The technologies have been around for a while, but there is a catch 22 situation when it comes to finding the right 'gas station' (read Sofnolime and O2). If it was easier to get them, there would be more people using rebreather etc. etc.
So my question is : are there people in this forum (or elsewhere) who tried to work on the problem of the supply, trying to create 'rebreather friendly' places rather than waiting for them to appear? . If yes, I would be happy to join the effort or at least understand what's being done , if no, wouldn't it be something useful to do (or am I in the wrong place to ask?)
