Re: Honestly,how is it?

As a first time rebreather owner of a Boris I don't feel qualified or experienced enough to make any serious comments but here are a few things:

1) The HUD - is excellent - if it's flashing then there's something to think about (especially white!) - the vibrate alarm cannot be ignored
2) The electronics generally - the "VR3" takes some getting used to but so far I've yet to find anything it will not tell me and it allows you to do pretty much anything you would ever want to - short of taking it apart underwater.
3) The scrubber - dead easy to fill - one of my biggest concerns is CO2.
4) The hoses - I'm not the tallest guy in the world and an Inspiration owning friend of mine commented on the length of the hoses but you have to consider how far the hoses travel compared with the APD units. I find the length fine.
5) accessibility to wrecks - I can only compare this with my twin 12 OC set up and the only "wreck" I've been in is the Stanegarth at Stoney Cove. My impression was that you have to allow a bit more headroom for the top edge of the case.
6) WOB - I found scarily low - being used to OC regs maybe I'm not best qualfied to comment on this but the lack of any kind of resistance means I have to remember that I have a mouthpiece to hold on to!
7) The harness - wasn't impressed initially but seems to do the job.
8) The pre-dive set up via the menus - I did the course with my instructor there to gently remind me of the error of my ways - the first real dive was a few weeks later and the pre-dive was straightforward.
