Hello rebreatherworld community,
today the new CORA 2 rebreather from Seaway has arrived.
It was first announced at the BOOT 06 in germany,
now some weeks later the first custom version are shipped and some
dealer training is in progress.
Now, just let have a closer look what we get:
The rig arrives with following components:
- Scrubber made from stainless steel
- the counterlung with breathing hose and mouthpiece
- 1.Stage regulator with any need connector, hoses and O2 finimeter
- The head for SCR Mode with one gas
It is a complete system, all you need to add is a "normal" Jacket and 2 cylinders and also a bailout system (you can recycle your rec. OC gear)
This are all parts assembled together:
Scrubber:
now have a closer look to the scrubber canister,
the scrubber canister is made from stainless steel, At the outer side there are the two cylinder holder with two cambands on each side. The cambands are working from 2 Litercyl. up to 10 Litercyl, but when connecting a big cylinder the it would be a good Idea to hang the CORA2 a little bit higher, because the scrubber canister has the diameter 20cm and a hight from about 35cm
in the head of the scrubber there are the connectors for the counterlung and also the bypass with the orifice.
Inside the scrubber there is a plexiglas tube where the scrubber lives. the scrubber is holded between two stainless steel meshes.
Head:
the inner part of the scrubber head has the o-rings for thigthen everything
Counterlung:
Now have a closer look to the counterlung. The counterlung is connected direct to the scrubber cylinder. In the codura cover there is one PE-bag (logical cut in two areas). one area is the exhale (white marked), one the inhale side (black). On the exhale side you can see the adjustable overpressure valve (neccessary in SCR MOde an good to reach to adjust them underwater by yourself, very nice feature), the mouthpiece is small and one hand operable. The breathing hoses are very soft so it is no problem to turn your head.
just look at the inhale side, there is also a manual add valve (nice addon and I think also an option for future modes like mCCR and eCCR). on the lowest part of the counterlung are dump valves. I think it is in prior to clean the counterlung, perhaps with the right manover you can drain the counterlung (I will try this

)
I will add here some more infomation, if I had done my first exercises with the new toy.
