Agreed entirely and be VERY honest with yourself. If its just cos you want a new toy, then accept that. As long as you're aware of ALL the pro's and con's, any decision you take can be defended to yourself.

If you know very little of CCR then potentially electronic control is the best way to start, however if you run an eCCR manually all the time you will quickly learn what your ppO2 and controller *should* be doing at all stages of the dive, this is important for manual rebreather diving.
I'd disagree here, if you know very little of CCR diving, then research/reading are your starting point. (Could even take the form of a course)
Anyone diving ANY rebreather should be aware of how it works and its ideosynchrasies. This is what keeps you alive when it goes wrong.
