You can fit a plate without cutting it, as Pierre did.
I know divers that have used spacers instead to get over the hump!

FWIW I didn't make any cuts, use any 'spacers', or any other bolts than the original AP ones. Just offerred it up and bolted it together. Never had a problem.
The CD BP works well as it is shallow in section. I like the flexibility of it too.
