Crazy duck you would not be able to use the 350 with the DX3000. The DX3000 does not allow the use a standard sync cord. You must use a fiber optic cable. The strobe would fire in slave mode after being signaled by the internal camera flash on the DX3000. The problem is the 350 is not set up to connect with these fiber optic cables. Sea & Sea has a few "digital strobes" which are designed to work in this fashion.
What other digital cameras are you considering using the strobe with???
I will check on pricing and get back to you. Also, I think there are better, smaller strobes that will handle your needs, be more versatile with todays digital cameras and, new they will be similarly priced to the used 350.
Hey Mike,
I am long time photo nerd from High School- back in the day.
I have used Pin hole cameras, range finders, 35mm, medium format and a few land cameras. I inhaled my fair share of Kodak chemical products.
Presently, I just shoot industrial shots of machinery for work and stainless steel doesn’t move very fast.
Last year I used a DX3000G on a dive trip to the Flower Gardens and had a Blast!
I would like something that I can use for landscapes, dry and wet cave, and diving. Nothing too demanding for depth- I am usually around 120ft. for a casual dive or deeper as needed.
Good example would have been that Giant catfish I saw two weekends ago- 4 ft long. No camera- dag nabit.
I am looking for a digital camera that I can shoot with the following specifications.
At Least 5 meg image density preferably higher.
SLR format or proper optics- no 28mm or proprietary lens.
And the cost needs to be reasonable
Housing can be from the usual suspects
same with the stobe package
Any thoughts?
Thanks Andrew
